SUEZ Water - Water Technologies & Water

OptiSea* for Seawater Cooling Systems

Maximizing operational efficiency and environmental conservation in seawater cooling systems

The high ionic strength of seawater, variation in composition and suspended solids globally, and high growth rate of macrofouling organisms all contribute to why seawater cooling systems require specialized modeling, treatment, and monitoring systems.

To ensure peak production, especially in systems with plate and frame heat exchangers, OptiSea effectively models high ionic strength seawater, provides deposition and suspended solids control, and monitors deposition accumulation and heat transfer performance in real-time. All while optimizing chemical usage with three layers of supervisory monitoring and control protection.

Product Highlight

One Package. One Solution. Everything Included.

SUEZ understands the unique challenges sea water presents in a cooling system and has developed the OptiSea technology to meet the needs of customers operating cooling systems on sea water sources.

When you choose OptiSea, you get all the following for your system:

  • Sateq* for seawater modeling - Visualize deposition risk with saturation modeling for high ionic strength seawater.
  • OptiSea chemistry - Control deposition and solids with new, custom-tailored chemistry.
  • TrueSense* MonitAll* - Online, real-time deposition monitor and heat exchange simulator.
  • TrueSense Ready, Set, Go (RSG) controller - Controller with pH, ORP, and conductivity.
  • Smart Pumps - Never again question if the chemical feed system is working correctly.
  • Tank Level Sensors - Supervise and confirm automatically that products were added according to plan.
  • InSight* asset performance management - View and track seawater cooling system performance and provide effective alarming based on intensive monitoring, on a proactive basis.

OptiSea Chemistry

Minimize Water Use or Optimize Chemical Use? The choice is yours.

The chemistry available in the OptiSea product line gives you the ability to optimize chemical dosage and volume usage at 1.0-1.3 cycles of concentration or significantly reduce water usage and thermal pollution by increasing cycles of concentration to previously unattainable levels.

Achievable cycles on Middle East Seawater

OptiSea 1000 Series Chemistry

  • Basic deposition control - inhibition only
  • Typically Phosphonate based with polymeric components
  • Effective for low cycles

OptiSea 2000 Series Chemistry

  • All polymer program - provides inhibition and dispersion
  • Controls TSS/Suspended Solids and prevents mud-like fouling in heat exchangers
  • 100% Halogen Stable - will not degrade like other chemistries in halogenated/chlorinated systems
  • Non-Phosphorus/Non-Nitrogen Based - limits nutrient balance impact in seawater
  • Depending on system conditions, can be applied at <0.5 ppm, ultra-low dosages
  • Capable of extending cycles on concentration above 3.0

Heat Exchanger Monitoring

Real-time heat exchanger monitoring for knowing that your critical exchangers are clean

TrueSense MonitAll

The new TrueSense MonitAll is a generational step forward in deposition monitoring and heat exchanger simulation technology. This newest version comes digitally-enabled and wirelessly connected to 24/7 real-time monitoring.

Continuously simulating the conditions of your most challenged cooling water exchanger, whether low or high flow velocity or both, MonitAll detects micron levels of deposition long before you would see the temperature, pressure, or flow changes in your system, allowing for a SUEZ expert to respond to upset conditions, and prevent deposition before it becomes a problem for your operation.
