Antifoulant Chemical Solutions

Better antifoulant chemistry to minimize the costly effects of fouled equipment

Process equipment fouling in oil refineries and petrochemical industries is an ongoing, tenacious, and extremely costly problem. Severe economic and operational penalties related to fouling include inefficient heat transfer, reduced reliability and processing flexibility, excessive maintenance requirements, throughput limitations, equipment damage, and significant safety and environmental concerns.

Product Highlight

Thermoflo* High Temperature Antifoulant

Thermoflo is a multi-component, oil soluble antifoulant that combines a high-temperature dispersant and a coke inhibitor. This formulation will effectively minimize the deposition of organic and inorganic material onto heat transfer surfaces, such as coke, sludge, corrosion products, polymers, and catalyst fines.

For more than 30 years, SUEZ has developed antifoulant technology and applications expertise. The benefits of SUEZ’s Thermoflo solutions include:

  • Maximizes throughput and increases production
  • Improves product quality
  • Improves overall equipment reliability
  • Reduces equipment cleaning and replacement costs
  • Lowers overall energy costs
  • Lowers waste disposal costs
  • Improves worker safety and environmental concerns

Dispersants/Polymerization Inhibitors

The Thermoflo and ProChem products consist of dispersants (high and low temperature stable, organic and inorganic fouling), polymerization inhibitors (free-radical, condensation), metal coordinators/deactivators and various corrosion inhibitors that exhibit dispersant properties.

Dispersants – designed to keep existing particles small by hindering agglomeration. Skin temperatures in the range of over 450-500F determine whether a low temperature stable dispersant or a high temperature stable dispersant is required. Additionally, the nature of the foulant (organic, inorganic, or salt) will help dictate which dispersant will be most efficacious.

Polymerization Inhibitors – designed to terminate free-radical (unsaturates like olefins/diolefins) and condensation (carbonyls, pyrrole nitrogen) polymerization reactions. The inhibitors can be multifunctional or mechanism specific.
